Edit only this file. Never hand-edit a generated changelog.html.

1. Put a new dated section at the TOP of "Changelog", newest first: a line "### YYYY-MM-DD", then one bullet per change.
2. Write for students: what they can now do, in plain words. Start a bullet with **New**, **Improved** or **Fixed**.
3. Only list things anyone with access can use today. Built but not released goes under "Coming next", worded as coming.
   When it ships, move it out of "Coming next" into a dated entry.
4. Keep "What Novis does today" current. Each line starts with **LIVE**, **BETA** or **COMING**.
5. Update "Last updated" below.
6. Never include: internal or code names, build numbers (the public app version such as 1.1.0 is fine), user counts,

# Novis changelog

What Novis does today, and what changed, newest first. Last updated: 2026-10-23.

Novis Penmode 1.1.0 for iPad is on the App Store. Novis opens to everyone on novis.study on October 25, 2026.

## What Novis does today

**LIVE** means it works today. **BETA** means it works in testing. **COMING** means it is built but not released yet.

### Novis Penmode (iPad and Apple Pencil)

- **LIVE** Check my work: circle a worked problem on your own handwritten page. Novis says what is right first, marks each wrong line or arrow, and writes the fix in place. Works for organic chemistry mechanisms, dosage calculations, chemistry, maths and physics.
- **LIVE** Hints instead of answers: say "don't give me the answer" and Novis points to the mistake and gives one more step each time you tap Next hint.
- **LIVE** Help me solve: walks you through a problem one step at a time.
- **LIVE** Record a lecture: Novis writes the notes, builds a deck of cards and catches dates like "the exam moved to Thursday". It asks before adding anything.
- **LIVE** YouTube into notes: paste a link and get a handwritten-style note with diagrams, in Compact, Balanced or Spacious layouts.
- **LIVE** Diagrams and label quizzes: ask Novis to draw a pathway like glycolysis, cover the labels, and quiz yourself one label at a time.
- **LIVE** A full notebook: blank, lined, grid and dot paper, pens, highlighter, shapes, lasso, text boxes, photos, and writing on your PDFs and slides.
- **LIVE** Your iPad pages show on novis.study with your ink in place, view only.

### novis.study (web) and the Windows desktop app

- **LIVE** Add sources: PDFs, slides, Word files, spreadsheets, pasted notes, a YouTube link, or a topic Novis researches for you with the pages it cited.
- **LIVE** Ask Novis about your own material. It answers from your sources and tells you when something comes from outside them.
- **LIVE** Cards with spaced review: Novis drafts cards from a source, you edit them, and each card comes back before you would forget it, more often as your exam gets close.
- **LIVE** Hide the labels on a diagram, Test mode with multiple choice from your own deck, and Anki deck import.
- **LIVE** Add an exam date and Novis builds a study plan backward from it on your calendar. Every calendar change waits for your OK.

- **Improved** Clearer plan descriptions everywhere: "Your whole study routine, handled."

### 2026-10-19

- **Fixed** Organic chemistry checks on iPad: tapping Novis on your own mechanism now checks it, follow-up questions like "which step?" light up the wrong arrows and draw the fix in green, and the verdict stays the same from one question to the next.
